Ceramic Sculpture "Lernende Kinder"

History

This sculpture stands at the street corner between Lindenstraße and Schulstraße. Bärbel and Ulrike, the daughters of the artist Georg Windisch from Glauchau, act as model for it. At this time Georg Windisch's workshop was near behind the "Forsthaus". The company "Schuzag-Klinkerwerke" (Narsdorf in Saxony) burnt this statue. It found its spot at the former development area "Nickelhütte" in the year 1955. Unfortunately, at September 17th in 1997 the statue became victime of vandalism. Someone chipped off heads, arms, hands, and also the school book. (Gemeindespiegel 10.1997)

Gottfried Keller, Peter Reinhold, and helpers supported to repair it. In 1999 the figure was fixed again, and all broken parts were restored." (Gemeindespiegel 10.1999)

Kunze-Mill

Opening Hours

Every year first Sunday in Advent the so-called "Mülhenweihnacht" is hold. This event is known to be a regular Christmas custom. At this time of the year it is possible to have a look outside and inside the historical building.

What can be see?

The building most widely is in its original state after it has been restored. One can find working technique and descriptions of the miller crafts. At first Sunday in Advent some rooms are used for a tiny Christmas market.

History

The former Water mill was built in the beginning of the 18th century in Kuhschnappel. The business was part of the process in agriculture and lumbering as well. Until the 1980s it still was in use but then nobody took care of it and it slowly fell into ruin like the former Hammer-Mill in Sankt Egidien which therefore was demolished at March 6th 2007. Fortunately, since 2005 the family Vogel takes care of the restoration. Due to hard work, nowadays the building is a very impotant piece of the commune's history.
